SF Giants Dog Days of Summer
Recently, my humans found out that the San Francisco Giants have a game refereed to as the Dog Days of Summer. This is a special day that the entire pack is welcome to visit AT&T Park. The Giants Dog Days of Summer is sponsored by Zynga.
Prior to the game the lady of my pack discovered there would be costume contests and a dog parade! The man of our pack choose a really cute sun dress and baseball hat for me.
When we got to the park, I saw all the other doggies. There were 350 of us that day. I noticed everyone was sporting Giants costumes. I made sure to let my mommy know I wanted to be part of the team too. Together, we went into the Giants Dugout and asked if they had any dog costumes left. I picked a Jersey and a new leash.
Now I was ready to join in the Dog Parade. My people wouldn’t let me jump into any of the doggy pools outside before the game. They said I would be a mess for the parade.
The parade was so much fun. I tried to sneak out on the field, but I got caught on pole. Oppps. During the parade, I got to smell a lot of new smells. I had never been to the Sandlot before. I got to see real baseball players up close and personal. The best part was when you walked past a certain point on the field, you and your human were on the Jumbo Tron. (around 1 min 45 seconds) They played special dog music for us as well.
On Sundays, before the game, some of the small humans at the game get to meet the players. They even go on the field for autographs.
During the game, some nice workers came through the dog section handing out bowls. They then poured us bottle water. It was very thoughtful. I was really grateful because I was hot and thirsty.
The giants even let a Seal name Lou come to the games.
Below is a picture of my pack!
And here are some of the dogs who were near us.
As you can see, I had a very good time! So did my people.
I was confused by this one guy from the Minnesota Twins. #36 Grossman. When my people and I play ball, I am told to keep my eye on the ball. I am not sure how he was keeping his eye on the ball while playing on his phone????
In the end, I had a great adventure with my people. On our way out of the park, I met a few SFPD officers. A few of them even took a picture with me.
We had so much fun, we considered doing the Oakland A’s Dog Day of Summer next month. Just as my people were about to buy tickets, a distant human crossed the rainbow bridge. As a result of that event, we will be traveling that day.
I really hope my people remember to do this again next year!
